Mary’s Daughters – exclusive film screening fundraiser

MARY AND HER DAUGHTERS ARE BACK!

Following a successful run of live performances at the Newington Green Meeting House in September, Mary’s Daughters returns with a special one-night-only exclusive screening of their new film! Shot in the Meeting House itself, this is a beautifully captured cinematic re-telling of the stage production with all ticket proceeds going to raise money for their upcoming run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this summer.

Please join us for this very exciting film debut on April 11th at 7:30pm.

Centuries after their deaths, a mother and her two daughters reunite for the first time to come to terms with their wounds, their writing, and their reverberations through history. ‍Mary's Daughters tells the story of Mary Wollstonecraft, the 18th Century intellectual radical, and mother of Western feminism, along with her two daughters: the forgotten-by-history, illegitimate love-child Fanny Imlay, and the infinitely more famous author of Frankenstein, Mary Shelley.

This play, written by Kaya Bucholc in collaboration with Will Wallace, is a rallying cry for a world that centres radical kindness above all things.

Trigger warnings: suicide, death, death in childbirth, child death, adult language, references to sex, loss of one’s mother, references to domestic abuse.

The Meeting House is the home of New Unity, a radically inclusive community of love and justice. This event is part of New Unity’s arts programme, Arts on the Green. Arts on the Green exists to provide flexible space to radical arts practitioners bringing high quality culture to our community.
