Exhibition: A Shared Space

Every Monday evening, from 6.30pm-8.30pm, a life class is held in the Mary Wollstonecraft Room at the Newington Green Meeting House. Unlike more academic life classes that valorise objective drawing, we encourage an embodied approach to life drawing practice in which the relationship between artist and model is collaborative. This approach encourages those who attend to produce a personal response to the model and to resist ideologies that underpin the academic life drawing tradition - such as the primacy of objectivity.

“A Shared Space” will contain a selection of drawings made at the NGMH life class that demonstrate the wide variety of approaches members of the class have adopted to describe their experience of sharing space with a model.  We hope you will enjoy looking at them and perhaps consider coming along to a life class yourself.

You don’t need to pre-book. Please come to the Newington Green Meeting House, 39a Newington Green, London, N16 9PR. If the front doors are closed, please come to the side door on Church Walk.
